New Academic Year 2012/13

Welcome to the new Academic Year!

A few notes of interest in regards to the library service which may be of help to both students and staff.

Opening hours:

Just to remind you that the library is open from 8.30am to  11pm until Friday 30 November. The library then opens 24/7 from the 1sy December 2012 to 23 May 2013

Student Support:

The Drop-in sessions will be held every weekday in Cavendish Library training room on the 3rd floor from 1pm to 2pm. These will commence from the 1st October to 14th December.

There is no need for the students to book, they can just bring along their queries. A librarian will be available to help them find their way round the library resources.

‘How to research your assignment’ video:

Over the summer, I was involved in a project to create a video called ‘How to research your assignment’.  Produced in a similar style to the ‘Common Craft’ instructional videos, it’s aim is to broadly explain to students in an accessible format various ways to research their projects or essays.  The finished video is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qiPJ3Ci1h6Q

Watch This Space

After a few months of inactivity, this blog will soon be seeing a relaunch.

Highlights will include:

  • Updates on new books and E-books ordered.
  • A weekly 'Did You Know' post which will draw your attention to useful sources within the library.
  • Posts on any changes or updates  within the library service.
  • A round up of the most common enquiries of the week, sharing any useful advice given.
Hopefully, this blog will evolve over time to become a useful point of information
